2012 was pretty much the year of serums and being a beauty blogger you would have thought I'd have tried at least one or two.
However I have never been a facial moisturising fan really... my moisturiser was working fine for me so I decided not to add anything else into my skincare routine.
Though once winter got in full swing I noticed my skin becoming sensitive to general products I was using and looking quite red around my nose and chin. So I decided to start using Botanics Skin Relief Serum (£7.99 - here... it is actually £4.99 right now, online & in-store!) which is apparently proven to reduce skin sensitivity in two weeks.
All serums are designed to be used after cleansing and before moisturising to help correct skin issues you have (skin brightening, anti-aging, reduce redness, reduce sensitivity etc) so I use the Botanics Serum after using the Lush Tea Tree Water toner, just two pumps of the runny gel like serum, and I just pat it into my skin. The serum leaves my face feeling a little tacky and slightly more firm, which is nice.
I have been using the serum for around 5 weeks now and have to say I have noticed a difference in my skin. No more getting really red skin after using skincare products and in general the skin around my nose and month is less red. So I guess I could start using it less however I do like to use this before foundation as it just smooths any dry skin without feeling like another product on my skin.
I think once I finish this serum I will however splurge in the Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum (Feel Unique £26.10 - here) which is very pricey in my eyes but I loved the sample that I tried of it. Plus as it is so hydrating I will use it in place of my moisturiser and it does create such a lovely base for makeup.
Do you use a serum? If so, let me know what you use!
Fee xo.
